What is MCT Oil?

Our Organic MCT Oil is an oil concentrated with the medium-chain triglycerides Capric acid and Caprylic acid. Medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs, are the types of saturated fatty acids typically found in coconuts.

What are the benefits of MCT Oil?

MCTs are easily digested and provide energy, support the metabolism and are burned by the body for energy and fuel.* In conjunction with a balanced diet and exercise, consuming MCT Oil can support weight management.*

How is your MCT Oil made?

Using our patented USDA certified-organic process, we gently remove most of the solid fat, or lauric acid,  from virgin coconut oil, leaving high levels of Capric and Caprylic acids that are more desirable for energy. *

Unlike non-organic MCT Oil brands, there are no chemicals or filler oils used during this process, resulting in a clean, light coconut-flavored MCT Oil with no harsh aftertaste. Many brands claim to be ‘Pharmaceutical Grade’, however, they use a high temperature chemical fractionation process which does not comply with USDA organic standards. When you choose Nutiva MCT Oil, you are supporting small organic coconut farmers, sustainable agriculture and healthy communities.

I just bought my first MCT Oil and I chose Nutiva Organic MCT Oil Unflavored. It have enjoyed it a lot. I compared it’s Supplement Facts and extraction process specifications to those of other brands and was pleased with Nutiva’s assertions. The fact that Nutiva is expeler pressed and gradual cooled oil separation was good news to me.
On the label of the Nutiva MCT Oil I bought it clearly states that it contains:
    1) 93% MCT’s, made up of:
    7.3 g. of C8.0 – Caprylic acid +
    5.0 g. of C10.0 +
    0.7 g. of C12.0 – Luric Acid
    = Total MCT’s of 13.0 g.
I assume this means that there is 0.978 g. of some other, non-MCT oil expeller pressed from the coconuts, right?
    2) As Nutiva 93% MCT what makes-up the remaining 7% / 0,978 g.of the oil’s contents? Is it SCT’s or LCT’s or what other ingredients that the coconut contains? I assume it is LCT’s or some other ingredients.
Thanks and congratulations on your product and care for the environment and local coconut producing communities,
    Stephen S. Landers

Why is it different than regular coconut oil as it’s more expensive…. apart from not having lauric acid

    1. Nutiva Team Nutiva says:

Hi Sonia! We process our Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Organic MCT Oil differently, plus our Organic MCT Oil is classified as a supplement and has gone through additional testing. Both of these facts contribute to the price difference. Thanks!
