What is MCT Oil?

Our Organic MCT Oil is an oil concentrated with the medium-chain triglycerides Capric acid and Caprylic acid. Medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs, are the types of saturated fatty acids typically found in coconuts.

What are the benefits of MCT Oil?

MCTs are easily digested and provide energy, support the metabolism and are burned by the body for energy and fuel.* In conjunction with a balanced diet and exercise, consuming MCT Oil can support weight management.*

How is your MCT Oil made?

Using our patented USDA certified-organic process, we gently remove most of the solid fat, or lauric acid,  from virgin coconut oil, leaving high levels of Capric and Caprylic acids that are more desirable for energy. *

Unlike non-organic MCT Oil brands, there are no chemicals or filler oils used during this process, resulting in a clean, light coconut-flavored MCT Oil with no harsh aftertaste. Many brands claim to be ‘Pharmaceutical Grade’, however, they use a high temperature chemical fractionation process which does not comply with USDA organic standards. When you choose Nutiva MCT Oil, you are supporting small organic coconut farmers, sustainable agriculture and healthy communities.

So, it sounds like you should not cook with MCT oil. Is that correct? Thanks!

  5. Glenda says:

Curious as to why I would use this instead of just using coconut oil. Thanks for any insights you can offer!

    1. Nutiva Team Nutiva says:

Hi, Glenda! Our Organic MCT Oil has concentrated levels of capric acid and caprylic acids, which provide energy and fuel for your body.* Virgin Coconut Oil contains these acids, but at lower levels, making MCT Oil the preferred oil if you’re looking for a source of energy. Hope that helps!

    2. KAY Rice says:

Why is MCT oil better than Coconut oil?

      1. Nutiva Team Nutiva says:

Hi KAY Rice! Organic MCT Oil is not better or worse than coconut oil, it’s just a different nutritional profile. Our Organic MCT Oil contains 93% medium-chain triglycerides, while regular coconut oil contains approximately 62% MCTs. Organic MCT Oil also remains liquid, even at cold temperatures. Thanks!
