Jamaican Spicy Beans Recipe

Red Palm Oil and Coconut Manna creates a tasty and creamy sauce for this mildly spicy beans dish. Serve with rice, steamed vegetables or a green salad for a fine meal. I like to cook my beans from scratch with a sea vegetable to enhance their digestion, and add some minerals, but if you prefer, you can start with 2 ½ cups cooked beans and skip the first step.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kidney Beans (dried; soak overnight and rinse well before cooking)
  • 2 tbsp Kelp Flakes
  • 4 cups Water

  • 1 cup Onion (chopped coarsely)
  • 1 cup Scallions (chopped coarsely)
  • 5 cloves Garlic (sliced)

  • 1/4 tsp Allspice (ground)
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt (or to taste)
