Helping Small Philippine Coconut Coop Group
Nutiva donates 1% of its sales to groups supporting sustainable
agriculture. These groups' activities range from community gardens,
to GMO labeling, to the banning of toxic pesticides. In 2010, Nutiva
is on track to donate close to $100,000 to these programs.
This month we're delighted to honor Tunkalan
Coconut Farmers Cooperative. This 70 member coop based in
the Philippines is comprised of small land owners. To date they
have received $3000 from Nutiva to expand both their bio-fertilizer
plant and and coconut candy operation. This funding provides
working capital and essential income for members to grow their
micro-enterprise.
