New
50% Hemp Protein from Nutiva
We
are jazzed to add another Hemp Protein offering with more protein
and less fiber. Our current Hemp Protein + Fiber contains 37% protein
and 43% fiber. Some customers have requested a powder that has
less fiber (thus less gritty) and more protein. Well, we listened
and now you can taste first hand why it's so delicious. We simply
cold-mill the Hemp Protein + Fiber and screen out much of the fiber
-- yielding a sweet, more creamy powder that has 50% protein, 20%
fiber and 10% fats.
Our good friend, Nutiva fan, and raw food guru, Matt Monarch loves
the new 50% Protein. Matt says "This is amazing- Nutiva's
new protein tastes like Chex cereal."

Update
Two North Dakota farmers, who filed a lawsuit in June of 2007
to end the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) ban on
commercial hemp farming in the U.S., were back in court on Wednesday,
November 12, 2008 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Nutiva® helps support VoteHemp in the hemp industry's efforts
to grow hemp once again in the USA.
The farmers, North Dakota State Rep. David Monson and Wayne Hauge,
are appealing a decision by the U.S. District Court, District of
North Dakota on a number of grounds; in particular, the District
Court ruled that hemp and marijuana are the same, as the DEA has
wrongly contended. In fact, scientific evidence clearly shows that
not only is industrial hemp genetically distinct from drug varieties
of Cannabis, but there are also absolutely no psychoactive effects
gained from ingesting it.

Hemp Factoid:
How many US Presidents have voted to support industrial hemp in
their previous political jobs before becoming President of the
US? None to date, yet President-elect Barack Obama will be first
when he takes office January 20, 2009. Mr Obama voted to support
hemp farming as a Illinois state senator.

Athlete
Nutiva® CEO and Founder, John W Roulac, raced in the August
31, 2008 Washington State Triathlon on Orcas Island. "I finished
and survived the triathlon on Sunday on Orcas Island, WA state.
The operative word is I survived! This race was the most grueling
sports endurance event I have done. Below is a shot of me after
crossing the finish line" ; )
"The
race was 4/10 mile of swim, 15 mile bike( huge hills) and 3.5 mile
run around the lake. I did the same race last year, yet this years
race was much harder on me--even though I trained a lot more in
the past year than I did for the 2007 race. It was also cold, in
the high 50's and very little sun."
"This year my swim was 30 seconds faster, with improved technique
and my bike ride was going pretty well for for the first half.
A wasp stung me in my right leg. I did not pay much attention to
this and kept going. Yet I started to slow and became a bit tired.
The race has about 10 hills with one last one straight pretty much
for over a mile. People kept passing going up the hills- and I
was not going that slowly. I recall one attractive woman passing
me - saying is that Mr. California? She passed me pretty quickly
as did more people. By the time I finished the bike I was about
95% spent...done. I took a few cups of water and my legs were shot....and
3.5 miles ahead of me of up and down hills and over roots and logs...I
started very slow."
"1/2 mile to finish and my legs started cramping up....I
just focused on finishing. Slow finish but I made it. A bit hard
on my ego coming in 2 hours 16 minutes - way slower than last years
2 hr 4 minutes. The winner this year was 1 hr 18 minutes. The upside
is I did complete the race and the goal of competing in it kept
me in my best shape ever!"
"In looking back, I see I need to work on my energy, core
strength and overall conditioning. I think my 6 day water fast
which ended around July 5th may have drained me of some of my vital
energy. My annual fasting will now be in early spring vs summer. And
I need to practice even more on hills. And maybe next time that
wasp will not sting me!"

Testimonials
Nutiva® Hemp Oil
Great Taste!
"This hemp oil tastes great. I use it for anything that could
use a bit of oil dressing in place of olive oil or sunflower oil.
The color adds to the appeal as well. It looks almost as green
as pumpkin seed oil, but tastes even better...and has omega-3.
I recommend you give this a try. I really love it!"

Nutiva® Hempseed
Lots of Delicious Nutrition
"I brought Nutiva's Hempseeds to a friend's house so he could
try them; he's a big fan of hemp products but had never eaten the
seeds. he got super-excited and had his wife, brother, sister-in-law,
and several kids try them...everyone loved them, especially one
8-year-old nephew who is reputed to be a picky eater. I had to
hide the bag so i'd have a little left to bring home! delicious
on salad & toast, in oatmeal & smoothies. they remind me
of sesame seeds...if you could just eat the "inside" of
them. they're buttery and very soft, and seem like they would be
easier to digest than other seeds. I toasted some in a dry pan
and added an equal amount of chia seeds and a little sea salt for
a home-made gomasio; oh my goodness, my cat just ate some of my
hempseeds! well, this crazy cat eats watermelon and drinks pineapple
juice & lemonade, so I’m not saying your cat would like
them...

"Shall We Gather at the River"
"Shall We Gather at the River" is a powerful movie covering
the dark side of the meat and poultry factory farms. In watching
the trailer, no wonder so many people are sick around the world. Check
